Square Patties and Other Scraps
Broccolily Theatre recorded the memories of people who grew up on Newland Avenue in the 1940s and 1950s. These interviews inspired a community play, which was performed as part of Assemble Fest 2016.
Below are some highlights from the interviews, including stories of stolen bikes and winning a sheep.
Broccolily Theatre was founded in 2014 by Ruby Thompson and Sam Caseley to make high quality theatre with and for young people. Broccolily is interested in the unheard voices and stories that surround us, be they huge or tiny, with a focus on the tales of young people. They believe that theatre for young people should be as exciting and innovative as any. By travelling to their audiences and clearing the path for them to come to the theatre, Broccolily ensure their work is always accessible.
