Johnny Cliff
Johnny talks about his early childhood and teenage years growing up on Hessle Road. He worked as a bricklayer and on a Humber Pilot Cutter. Johnny was taken on as a galley boy on two trawlers, the Colwyn Bay and the William Wilberforce. He spent three years on the trawlers and then worked on the barges. Johnny changed jobs and worked in the caravan industry. He recalls life on Hessle Road, socialising, dancing at Locarno’s, following Hull City and dressing as a teddy boy. Johnny also recalls the Triple Trawler Tragedy where he lost people he knew.
