Barbara Miller

Barbara describes her childhood as the daughter of a serving Army Officer, moving to different countries. Her grandfather was Thomas Henry Wray who was Lord Mayor of Hull in 1959 and died during his year of office. Barbara describes the 1960s in Hull, going out to clubs and discos including a funny anecdote about seeing P.J. Proby at The Cecil.

[00:00:09] Born in Holland Street in 1949. Moved away when three. Her father was in the Army. They were based in Germany, Liverpool, Birmingham and Singapore.

[00:00:45] Her grandfather, Thomas Henry Wray, 1959 Lord Mayor, died in office. His replacement was John Science. Barbara describes his civic funeral.

[00:01:52] Back to Hull in 1960s. Barbara describes the clothes, clubs, discos and relationships with boys. She saw P J Proby live at The Cecil. She stole a hairbrush from his carboot.
