Barbara describes her childhood as the daughter of a serving Army Officer, moving to different countries. Her grandfather was Thomas Henry Wray who was Lord Mayor of Hull in 1959 and died during his year of office. Barbara describes the 1960s in Hull, going out to clubs and discos including a funny anecdote about seeing P.J. Proby at The Cecil.
